How to Stop Fighting Fires in Your Music School! [7FMS Ep. #48]

by Daniel Patterson

A few episodes ago, Nate and I talked about how to run a systems-based music school.

Yes, perhaps not the most “exciting” topic… but boring businesses often are very profitable businesses.

In the episode, we gave a practical method for building systems.

More importantly, we talked about the tangible benefits for building systems.

However, if more knowledge was all we needed, none of us would ever experience problems in our businesses.

We wouldn’t be “putting out fires” all the time.

So… in today’s episode, we discuss the six reasons that owners fail to build a systems-based school.

These are not “inventions,” I didn’t make these up… these are actual habits or mindsets or failures that I’ve observed in school owners over the past seven years.

Some of these I have observed in myself!

In this episode, Nate and I expose six reasons that you’re constantly putting out fires in your music school… and how to overcome these challenges!

Here’s what we cover in the episode:

  • 6 reasons you’re constantly fighting fires
  • Obstacle #1: The Trust Factor – Systems in your music school you don’t want to lose control of
  • Obstacle #2:The Skill Factor –  Systems in your school that need to be demolished
  • Obstacle #3: The Pride Factor – Systems in your school that are limiting your possibilities
  • Obstacle #4: The Consistency Factor – Systems in your school that constantly stop & start (an owner problem)
  • Obstacle #5: The Complexity Factor – Systems you give up before you even start because they’re “too daunting”
  • Obstacle #6: The Mindset Factor – Systems that don’t work because you’re not fully committing to them

There is a lot to chew on in this episode!

Which of these six obstacles do you relate to?

Have you discovered other obstacles to building a systems based business?

What insights would you share with others?

We won’t know unless you reach out and tell us!
