Are You Afraid of Teaching Group Lessons? (w. Greg Genter) [7FMS Ep. #116]

by Daniel Patterson

I’ve been helping music schools for nearly 10 years…

And, I’ve seen a lot of things change in our industry.

However, I’ve noticed something recently that I’ve never noticed before.

What is it?

In the last year, I’ve really noticed that mid-size and larger academies have a tendency to resist or reject group lesson programs.

Now, they might have a “rock band” program…

Or a preschool class…

Or “group makeup lessons”…

Or they might have a small keyboard class…

But they don’t really fully commit to a group lesson structure and prefer to keep their beginner students in a private lesson.

The reasons for this are many and I think the BIGGEST one I’ve noticed is just FEAR.

Fear of parent opinions, fear of change, fear of letting their students down, fear of wasting their time if it “doesn’t work out.”

Unfortunately for them, they are missing out on a TON of benefits that they can get by committing to a group lesson structure as their core curriculum.

So, in this podcast episode, we brought Greg Genter on to talk about fully committing to group, the 3 hidden benefits of running a group in a large commercial academy, how to convert, and much much more.
