How to Know What to Pay Your Teachers [7FMS Ep. #43]

by Daniel Patterson

One of the most common questions I receive from school owners is:

“What percentage of lesson fees should I pay my teachers?”

This is actually the wrong question to ask… and – unfortunately – the question reveals a simplistic way of thinking about teacher compensation that will undermine your efforts to attract and retain the best teachers.

In this episode, Nate and I talk about pay tiers, when and how to give raises, how to talk to your team about pay, and so much more!

Here’s what we cover in the episode:

  • Why not just look at what other schools are charging and pay my teachers the same amount?
  • Do you pay new employees the same hourly wage regardless of age & experience?
  • Daniel talks about GROW’s training and payscale system

We covered a lot of ground in this episode, and I’m sure that it will generate a lot of follow up questions.

Don’t be shy! We’d love to hear and answer your questions.

Have a great week!

Very best,
Daniel and Nate
